Secure Computing Adds Strong Authentication to Citrix MetaFrame Secure Access Manager
SafeWord® for Citrix® MetaFrame® Positively Identifies Users Before Allowing Access to Enterprise Information Resources
SAN JOSE, Calif., August 19, 2003 – Secure Computing Corporation (Nasdaq: SCUR), the experts in protecting the most important networks in the world, today announced that SafeWord® for Citrix® MetaFrame® now supports Citrix MetaFrame Secure Access Manager, enabling positive identification of users accessing a wide range of network and Web applications. With support for MetaFrame Secure Access Manager, SafeWord for Citrix MetaFrame provides strong authentication for on-demand access to enterprise applications, documents, Web content and services from any location. Specifically designed for Citrix environments, SafeWord for Citrix MetaFrame is easy to install and manage, and offers a cost-effective security solution that eliminates the vulnerabilities of fixed passwords.
"Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server is already a key infrastructure and strategic Information Technology component for thousands of corporations, and MetaFrame Secure Access Manager takes Citrix even further," said Jason Wright, industry analyst/program leader of security technologies at Frost & Sullivan. "Secure Computing has recognized this, and their strategy to provide a tuned, integrated and cost-effective strong authentication solution offers significant benefits to the growing Citrix user community."
"SafeWord for Citrix MetaFrame is an effective solution for our remote users and internal teams. Our administrators enjoyed a fast roll-out and our users find the product easy to use. We're all sleeping better with the peace of mind from enhanced security," said Tom Riland, CIO of Facility Solutions Group. "By adding MetaFrame Secure Access Manager support, Secure Computing is demonstrating they are on top of the latest Citrix products and releases."
SafeWord for Citrix MetaFrame provides strong authentication with tokens that generate new passcodes for every user login. This eliminates the common security threats of passwords being stolen, guessed, hacked or simply written down. Out-of-the-box compatibility with MetaFrame Presentation Server and Secure Access Manager and tight integration with Active Directory provides unprecedented ease-of-management and lower total cost of ownership compared to other strong authentication products. SafeWord for Citrix MetaFrame installs in minutes on existing servers and is designed to be operated and managed by administrators without training or outsourcing. Since the product uses existing Active Directory user records, this eliminates the need to create redundant user accounts in a separate database, further saving administrative time and money. SafeWord for Citrix MetaFrame is completely managed through a plug-in to the Microsoft Management Console (MMC), where tokens can be assigned to users. New SafeWord for Citrix MetaFrame customers or existing customers with a valid support agreement can download the MetaFrame Secure Access Manager Interoperability Update from the Secure Computing Web site (www.securecomputing.com) at no charge. The product is available immediately.
"Our customers enjoy the use of MetaFrame Secure Access Manager because it solves a basic problem for them; it gives them access to the applications and information that they need to do their jobs," said Rick Braddy, vice president, product management and architecture for Citrix. "By integrating our solution with SafeWord for Citrix MetaFrame, our joint customers can feel confident that the corporate information they access is being safeguarded by the strong authentication that Secure Computing provides, and security is of utmost importance to all of our customers."
Citrix MetaFrame Secure Access Manager is the most cost-effective way to get secure, personalized access over the web to any application or information resources in the IT infrastructure. The product provides secure, single-point access over the Web to any enterprise resource, including applications, data sources, documents, Web content and services.
