Netilla Networks Launches Certified Engineer Program for Its Worldwide Reseller Network
Netilla Certified Solution Providers To Take Proficiency Exam at Thomson Prometric Testing Centers Worldwide; Netilla Vouchers Cover Testing Cost
SOMERSET, N.J. - June 7, 2004 - Netilla® Networks, Inc., a leading provider of SSL VPN and secure application access management solutions, today unveiled the Netilla Certified Engineer (NCE) program, the company's first technical certification examination. The exam is available to technical staff at all authorized Netilla resellers, who can take it starting today through Thomson Prometric's worldwide network of testing centers.
By certifying proficiency in installing and maintaining the Netilla Security Platform SSL VPN, the NCE exam offers customers the assurance that their Netilla deployment will be handled smoothly and professionally. For Netilla Certified Solution Providers, the program demonstrates their commitment to providing the highest level of expertise and support for the Netilla Security Platform.
"Netilla's business has expanded rapidly, as more companies of every size realize the benefits of secure Web-based remote access," said David Mazakas, Director, Field Operations. "Netilla's products are marketed exclusively through the channel, and we designed this comprehensive technical exam to ensure that all of our resellers possess the necessary level of expertise to deploy and maintain the Netilla Security Platform across a wide range of end-user environments. We're partnering with Thomson Prometric, a leader in Internet-based testing whose global operations match our worldwide reseller base."
Netilla is requiring each of its Certified Solution Providers to have at least one Netilla Certified Engineer on staff. To simplify the process for its VARs, Netilla will issue at least one voucher to each certified reseller to cover the $250 testing cost. Depending on their Netilla sales volume and staffing, some VARs may be eligible for more than one voucher. "These vouchers are a Netilla value-add designed to streamline the process of getting our VARs certified as quickly and easily as possible," said Mazakas.
The NCE test itself consists of 35 multiple-choice questions with a 60-minute time limit. The exam will cover the current Netilla Security Platform Release 4.0 and is designed to measure an engineer's proficiency in the NSP's remote access services and the authentication methods it supports. Prerequisite skills include a thorough knowledge of networking in a heterogeneous routed environment, Windows 2000/2003 Active Directory and Terminal Server Configuration, working knowledge of UNIX/Linux applications, familiarity with Web server configuration and basic Web site design, and knowledge of network security and basic firewall configuration. Before taking the exam, candidates should be thoroughly familiar with the Netilla Security Platform and its Administrator's Manual and should already have taken the Netilla Release 4.0 Technical Training Webinar (available to certified resellers).
Candidates can take the proctored NCE examination at Thomson Prometric's extensive network of Testing Centers worldwide. Part of the Thomson Corporation, Thomson Prometric (www.prometric.com) is the global leader in technology-enabled testing and assessment services for academic, professional, government, corporate and information technology markets. Based in Baltimore, Md., Thomson Prometric employs 3,000 employees worldwide.
Technicians who successfully pass the NCE exam will receive a personalized Netilla achievement certficate and gift, along with an NCE logo that can be posted to the VAR's website. Netilla Certified Engineers will also be invited to Netilla technical training sessions and webinars.
