Alternative Technology adds Novell to support health care market initiative
Englewood, CO – January 20, 2005 - Alternative Technology, Inc. the leading specialty distributor for value-added resellers, is pleased to announce the addition of Novell to their family of supported vendors, effective immediately. Alternative believes that Novell’s products will enhance the solutions offerings, as well as overall profitability, of Alternative’s value added reseller (VAR) partners. As a leading distributor, Alternative provides a range of services that technology resellers can leverage for their customers, including analysis, design, security services, compliance, risk analysis, identity access management assessments and more. They deliver these services on behalf of the reseller - therefore the reseller can add their value and/or resell these services to the customer.
“This is the first time we’ve added an operating system to our product line,” said William Botti, President and COO of Alt Tech. “We are excited because Novell products for security - such as Novell Nsure Identity Manager and the other Nsure solutions -- strengthen our VARs position in the healthcare market.” Alternative’s Healthcare Initiative specifically addresses the key issues facing the healthcare industry today, such as managing single sign-on and HIPAA compliancy requirements. The addition of Novell helps Alternative’s VARs to support hospitals, schools and other industry organizations with better solutions for compliance.
“Alternative Technology will provide a new layer of pre and post sales and technical support to our reseller community, with particular strength in the Healthcare market,” said Mark Hardardt, Vice President General Manager, WW Channel and Partners, for Novell. “As a North American distributor with a significant customers base of resellers Alternative is in strong position to add value within Novell' s go-to-market efforts with our channel partners.”
Instead of resellers looking to Novell (CRC, field teams, Consulting...) for training, support, and engagement activity (particularly within tier 2 - 3 customers), they can turn to Alternative for these services. Also, Novell can now train and control the level of service from a single point and in a consistent manner - as opposed to ad hoc delivery, multiple Novell sources and execution across North America.
Alternative Technology helps Novell enhance the vertical sales and technical support capabilities in its partner communities by offering industry specific expertise and value-added services that resellers can leverage in customer engagements. Through Alternative Technology’s Technical Services, experience, joint go-to-market strategy, and best-in-class technology – Novell will be able to service more customers by enabling more mutual solution provider partners.
