DataCore Wins “SAN Solution of the Year” With Nexsan and NCE Computer Group at 2007 UK Storage Awards
DataCore's SANmelody SAN server and auto-provisioning software has been selected alongside Nexsan's SATA storage in conjunction with NCE Computing Group, to receive the Storage Awards 'SAN Solution if the Year' at Moorfields Eye Hospital.
Steven Gill, responsible for the infrastructure support at Moorfields, said, “We are continually asked to provide additional storage to existing servers, which invariably means buying more internal disks or a new server. This takes time, incurs added cost and is disruptive. Now all I do is simply allocate a 2Tb LUN to the server and it automatically only uses the disk it needs. I am only too aware that a lot is promised and that in practice many products don't deliver. However, with SANmelody's thin provisioning it does exactly what is says - it just works.”
