Secure Computing and Alternative Technology Launch Education &Amp; Channel Sales Enablement Initiative for Enterprise Gateway Security Solutions
Alternative Technology extends its “Follow the Wire” Program to Secure Computing’s complete line of security solutions based on the TrustedSource™ Reputation Service
SAN JOSE, Calif, Aug 21, 2007 — Secure Computing Corporation (NASDAQ: SCUR), a leading enterprise gateway security company and Alternative Technology, a leading specialty distributor of thin-client/server-based computing, edge infrastructure, virtualization, and government-approved security solutions, today announced a channel education and sales enablement program for Secure Computing’s broad line of enterprise gateway security solutions. The program highlights Secure Computing’s TrustedSource global reputation system, the largest and most comprehensive Internet reputation database in the world.
“Secure Computing is the only vendor with a complete line of gateway security solutions, where channel partners can address all aspects of Internet security including messaging, Web and network security, and identity and access management,” said Bill Botti, president and chief operating officer of Alternative Technology. “Secure Computing fits perfectly with our Follow the Wire sales philosophy that is about providing products, services and support that address critical customer needs, and how to address more of those critical needs by offering, in this case, multiple product solutions from one vendor. This program enables our channel partner to sell Secure Computing appliances across the entire enterprise.”
“The most effective solutions to today's evolving and blended threats are based on reputation systems,” said Dmitri Alperovitch, principal research scientist with Secure Computing. “A reputation system accumulates data from tens of thousands of sources across the globe to create highly accurate profiles of all messaging and web activity on the Internet.” This real-time activity is then analyzed for deviations from expected "good" Internet behavior to create a reputation score for each sender or host based on multiple parameters including IP address, domain, URLs, messages and image content. If a host is determined to be highly unreliable or connected to spamming or other types suspicious activities, then that host's traffic can be scored, tagged and blocked, no matter how clever or devious the attack may be. This results in proactive and immediate protection from both known and unknown threats.
Channel partners implementing a Follow the Wire sales strategy with Secure Computing’s Enterprise Gateway Security Solutions will be able to address needs ranging from email security to Web and network security, to identity and access management, all served by a common infrastructure.
Threats across the security landscape present a new opportunity for security VARs and for those VARs interested in entering the security marketplace. VARs can best address this growing market opportunity for security solutions by arming themselves with knowledge about security reputation systems and best practices in messaging, Web, network and identity and access management.
Alternative Technology has dedicated a Web site to VARs and their security education, with links to security industry information sources, including Webinars, white papers, demos and training opportunities.
